My Story

Born in a remote South Australia town of Port Neill, I have had a humble country upbringing. When I was a kid I moved with my family to Whyalla to do my schooling which is where I grew up. I was in to hanging out with my friends, playing computer games, sports, skateboarding etc. In high school I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with my life and had trouble focusing so I dropped out of school and started an apprenticeship in metal work. I got depressed in that environment and didn’t want to keep living that lifestlye so I left without knowing what I would do.

I moved back to Whyalla to complete year 12 as a mature age student at the public school I went to hoping for better oppurtunities. I got in to yoga and meditation around this time to help improve my health and wellbeing and to deal with my anxiety and stress. Yoga helped me find a sense of purpose in the world. I started to embrace a minimalist life and focused on personal development. Through the help of yoga I was able to focus better and I did well enough to get in to Adelaide Law School.

I moved to Adelaide to attend university where I joined the University of Adelaide Yoga Club and started my yoga teacher journey. I joined the club to be part of the yoga community as I wanted to practice and improve my passion. It helped me stay focused on my studies as I was on the path to becoming a lawyer.  People wanted to learn yoga from me so I started teaching a few classes through the yoga club as a volunteer.

After growing a bit of a following with my classes I ended up becoming the president of the yoga club. At this point I knew I had to become a certified yoga teacher. Until then I was teaching but I was self taught. I learnt by studying online, reading books and practicing a lot of classes at various studios. In 2016 I ventured to Thailand and India to complete my 200hr Yoga Teacher Trainings, as well as some other yoga courses focused on hatha and vinyasa yoga.

On my return to Australia I started teaching yoga wherever I could find an opportunity as well as at the university. I slowly built up my personal brand as a side hustle. Mostly through posting on Instagram and Facebook and creating print media. I documented my journey embracing the entrepreneur, hustle mindset.

I created the Yoga Theory brand as I was almost finished at university so I would no longer be as active in the yoga club. I kept posting about Yoga Theory and promoting myself as a yoga teacher as I knew I wanted to have a studio in the future. I would share posts and photos from my classes which helped me grow the business and build a following online.

I graduated my law degree in 2017 and I was working as an intern for a criminal law defence firm for about 9 months prior. I had to make the decision of whether I wanted to focus on my law career or focus on my yoga business. I decided I wanted to go in to yoga full time and build Yoga Theory and my personal brand as a yoga teacher and entrepreneur.

I incorporated Yoga Theory in 2017 and set up a small yoga studio on King Wiliam Road. It could fit maximum 10 people in it and it was pretty basic. No bathrooms just a small toilet out the back but it was a good location and had a boutique feel. I focused a lot on the service and product and built a following in the area. I focused on my dream and never gave up even though I had a lot of pressure to do something else. Sometimes I would doubt if I made the right decision but I just kept kept grinding and focused on my goals.

I expanded Yoga Theory to a bigger studio in Adelaide CBD in 2020 with the help of investors. I now operate one of the biggest yoga studios in Adelaide. As of 2023 I have taught over 6000 yoga classes and I have taught yoga in multiple countries.

I am currently the CEO of Yoga Theory and former president of the Adelaide University Yoga and Meditation Club. I am also a freelance yoga teacher and run corporate events such as Adelaide’s biggest yoga class as well as offer my services as a business consultant to interested parties.

I am a ceritifed Yoga Teacher Trainer registered with Yoga Alliance having graduated multiple yoga teachers who are now following their passion, teaching around the world.

I will continue to expand and grow globally as time goes on.
