E-Scooter Laws South Australia (Facts Explained)

Currently in 2024:

The South Australian Government is set to introduce legislation allowing privately-owned e-scooters on public roads. The proposal permits e-scooters to be allowed to be ridden on streets with speed limits up to 50km/h, in bike lanes, and on footpaths. Personal mobility devices like electric unicycles and Segways are included.

The speed limit proposed will be 25km/h on roads and bike lanes, and 15km/h on footpaths and pedestrian areas. This law is set to exclude public-hire e-scooters. Riders must be 16 or older, wear helmets, and avoid alcohol or drugs. Public consultation showed strong support for these measures.
